When Truth Sets You Free

Jesus wants relationship with you.

That’s a foreign idea to some and a familiar idea to others. It has been both to me. It was completely foreign in most regards for the first two decades of my life. I did not have a grid (way of understanding) for that simple truth. But, it is the truth.

In the book of Acts, the apostle Luke records how Paul and Silas were helping to awaken the church in Athens to this reality. The God who made the world and everything in it, this Master of sky and land, doesn’t live in custom-made shrines or need the human race to run errands for him, as if he couldn’t take care of himself. He makes the creatures; the creatures don’t make him. Starting from scratch, he made the entire human race and made the earth hospitable, with plenty of time and space for living so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him. He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us. He’s not remote; he’s near. We live and move in him, can’t get away from him! One of your poets said it well: ‘We’re the God-created.’ Well, if we are the God-created, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to think we could hire a sculptor to chisel a god out of stone for us, does it?” Acts 17:24-29. (MSG)

In other words, why would you attempt to create something that is “like him” when you can actually have and are a part of HIM? I discovered much later on that my idea and view of Jesus was very much shaped by religion and not Jesus himself. I and much of the current church have the mindset of the Greeks and we need a modern day Paul’s and Silas’ to just shine a simple and brilliant light on the giver of life.

I spent my early serving Christianity. It is a slave-master that is interested in rules, regulations, and the constant sacrifice that will allow you to simply keep your head above water. Then it happened, I remember when my religious world was blown to bits by the reality of the truth in Jesus. It was accompanied with a barrage of revelation on God’s attributes. It was an all out assault on religion as Jesus himself made it very real to me that He is a healer, a savior, a comforter, a father, a friend, the creator of all, and even a companion.

Truth has a name, and His name is Jesus.

The truth (of discovering who Jesus really is, and what He really thinks about you) really will set you free. There are millions of Christians around the world that still do not know that Jesus wants relationship with THEM! Yes, there are many lost within the walls of our churches. The revelation that Jesus wants a relationship with us, is a truth that is taken for granted by many, including myself, but it’s a truth that I long to see made reality in the lives of both believers and unbelievers alike.

On my upcoming trip to New Zealand, I will pour my energy into shoring up and edifying believers in this truth. The good news is for both the believer and unbeliever. And, it is VERY, VERY GOOD NEWS! Jesus is not only madly in love with you, but He died so that you might live and live life abundantly!

I am almost at the half way mark of the funding needed to make this trip a success. With just 2 weeks left until I leave, if you’re willing to give into this trip financially, THANK YOU! No gift is too big or too small. And please share/like/tweet/message, whatever it is that you do to get the word out. It all helps. I am a simple man that has been massively impacted by the Spirit of God, and I just want to create room for people to have an encounter with God in worship that leaves them in wonder of HIM.

Live in Freedom.
